SIF
Universal Agent | Work Smarter Through
Integration
The Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) is an
initiative of the software industry to set standards
so that various software applications within the
school district "talk" to each other. By specifying
SIF compliance, districts can save time by
eliminating redundant data in multiple
locations. SIF is a critical industry initiative that
helps schools realize the vision of data
interoperability.
SL-Tech is the foodservice leader in the SIF
initiative and the first company with certified SIF
applications. In addition, our Universal SIF Agent
is ideal for integration with legacy systems.
SIF Agents are extensions of each application that
serve as the intermediary between the software
application and the SIF zone. Once the applications
are installed, the respective SIF agents must also
be installed and configured. Installation of agents
typically requires a simple download of the wizard
installation screen. Each application in a zone has
an Agent that serves as its link with the Zone
Integration Server (ZIS). Data is shared between
applications through a series of standardized
messages, queries and events written in XML and is sent
using Internet protocols.
Contact your SL-Tech Account Executive at
1-800-423-2113 Ext. 8102 for a list of ZIS
providers.
